The Walker city park has recently been redone and is right on Leech Lake. There are tennis courts, a playground and swimming beach all maintained from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The city park also hosts a variety of events including 4th of July celebrations, Walker Bay Days in August, Triathlon in July, and a marathon in September. We support catch and release fishing in several ways! Fishing guides who will come pick you up and supply everything. We will help you launch, retrieve and dock your boat at no cost. We have three kayaks and a canoe you can use and fish from at no cost. You can fish from the dock and the shore with your own gear. Hiking in Walker, MN gives you a lot of options with a number of area multi-purpose trail systems with Leech Lake B&B at a comfortable distance to all of them. Or use our shuttle service to go one way- and request maps from us! Shingobee Recreational Area becomes a mountain biking and hiking trail during the summer and is near the Heartland Biking Trail and the North Country National Trail. There are also the Hunter Walking Trail System, the Snoway 1, and the County Road 50 Trail System. The Walker Area Community Center has pickleball on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon. Pickleball is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a ball similar to a whiffle ball and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn and can quickly become a fast-paced game for experienced players. Just 14 miles from the B&B, Northern Lights Casino offers 24-hour action and serves up some seriously big music and comedy entertainment. Much of the fruit used at Forestedge is harvested from the winery grounds. Rhubarb plants, which started as part of the family garden, have now become a large part of what is harvested for wine. Chokecherries, raspberries, and plums are also grown at the farm. Forestedge Winery is about 18 minutes from the B&B.
